MindFlesh WINS Best Horror Award

Whoooha yeah! Our first award win for MindFlesh: Best Horror at the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival.

And what a great festival it was too. Set in Philadelphia's Northern Liberties - a district in the midst of urban decay and urban renewal - the festival had loads of fantastic screening spaces. MindFlesh screened in the Media Bureau (725 N. 4th Street ) - a huge warehouse-style multi-storey multi-pupose space which, when not being used for discussion groups or screenings, can be used as a film stage.

The organisers really are grass-roots indie film supporters who worked their butts off making sure the filmmakers networked with each other and with the likes of Gerald Casale from Devo who flew in especially for the festival. I was actually blown away by the fact that they got a screener to Gerald's hotel (who was laid up suffering from the flu) and have him watch MindFlesh so that he could give me feedback on it at the film-making forum later that day. Gerald, man, what a great guy.

Saw some great films, met some great people, drank a lot of free hospitality booze, came away with an award - what a brilliant weekend!
